The SEED Difference
Most people believe that the most important consideration when choosing an architect is their design skills. We don’t believe that is correct, because we believe that any Registered Architect has the training and experience to meet your design needs. If you really are only after a “pleasing design”, you should buy design services based on one thing – the cheapest price.
However, SEED believes that there is so much more to a project than just the design. We also need to produce a design that is economical to build, has as little embodied carbon as possible and is comfortable and healthy to live in, as well as having low energy costs. But we need to be honest. Getting these things right is time consuming and therefore, we admit that our fees are higher than many others. However, we do make you this promise – our higher fees allow us to spend the time in order to save you significantly more money than you spend. At our initial meeting, we welcome the opportunity to discuss this so that you really do understand where the money goes and what you get in return, because as one of the world’s leading architects said

Case Study
Jock already had a DA, which had been priced by a builder but he had a dream of a more contemporary design and approached SEED for help. We quickly identified that the biggest drain on the budget was due to a sloping site and the groundworks needed to support the house on the site while holding the hillside in place. So, as we always do, we worked with our structural engineer from the outset to develop a structural scheme that matched the design. By workshopping the problems before any significant design work was undertaken, we gained an understanding of a structural system that would allow for the most economical construction. Instead of 32 screw piles required for the “standard” scheme, we needed only 1 and we reduced retaining walls by 56m, saving over $90,000.
